Make a 3D Theme Park

Make a three-dimensional theme park with paper, a wire action figure, junk sculptures, clay figures, and edible food art. Projects will reflect students’ interests. Concepts of balance, stability, and positive and negative space will be discussed.

Painting Intensive

Dates: July 3-7 (4 days class–no class July 4th)

Use thick paint to create a textured painting inspired by Van Gogh, turn a piece of furniture into art with stencils and stamps, enjoy painting with watercolors on wet paper to music. We’ll experiment with many techniques.

Craft Potpourri

Sample a variety of fun crafts. Make intricate jewelry or sculptures with Sculpey, a batiked pillow, a collage mirror, and a mosaic stepping stone. Projects will reflect students’ interests.

Travel Watercolor Sketching

Learn to watercolor sketch quickly with minimal supplies while traveling in and out of Greenfield. Watercolor travel sketching is fun, not intimidating, and easy to learn. Anyone can do a quick sketch in a small journal with a pen and paints. You will have day to day instruction to help reach your goals. Drawing, Painting, and Collage 2D

In this class students will work on their drawing skills in addition to their creativity! They will work with a variety of supplies including graphite pencils, liquid watercolors and decorative paper. They will work from still lives as well as from reference photos and their imagination. Dress for a mess!

Mythological Creatures and Magical Beings 3D

In this class, students will look at various creatures from mythology including dragons, unicorns and elves. They will create 3 works of art inspired ranging from a relief collage to a paper mache sculpture. Dress for a mess!

Clay
Instructor: Tina Clark
Dates: August 7-11

Ages: 7-12

Using self hardening clay we explore hand building techniques, coil pottery, sculpture and slab.  Weather permitting, we will bring nature into our creations by creating habitats based on fantasy and reality.

Painting

We all love to paint.  Butterflies, trees, people, the sky.  Children will work on a variety of compositions as we explore watercolor, tempera and acrylic paints. We will focus on techniques such as brush us, color combination and the shading.
